Open - Back and Closed - Back Headphones

Image
Open Back and Closed Back Headphones In this blog we are looking on the two different types of headphones and its uses. If you are a beginner in Music Production I prefer mixing in headphones which is much better and cheaper rather than mixing in monitors. Headphones are very user - friendly because even if we are away from studio or traveling, we can still get our work done. The disadvantages Headphones have is that after long usage our ears will get completely fatigue especially in a hot and humid conditions, and also there is stereo imaging issues as when we solo and hear the right side of the headphones, we can only hear the right side on our right ear. But in Monitors when we solo the right side, we can hear that on our right ear and a little bit on our left ear as well because the sound will hit and bounce back in different directions. Now we are going to look on two different type of Headphones. Open - Back and Closed - Back Headphones . Open and Closed Back Headphones se...

What is MIDI? How it Works?

Image
MIDI KEYBOARD AND ITS USE What is MIDI Keyboard and how does it works? MIDI stands for Musical Instrument Digital Interface. It is and Interface between Musical Instruments and Computer. MIDI was invented in early 1980s as a way to let different instruments communicate with each other. MIDI helps us to communicate wit computers so we can use DAWs like FL Studio, Logic Pro X, Ableton, Studio One.. to send information to these devices. A MIDI has 3 inputs. 1. MIDI Out 2. MIDI In 3. MIDI Thru What MIDI Out does is it sends a MIDI signal out of the device and MIDI In takes a MIDI signal inside the device and a MIDI Thru allows it to pass to another device. So basically how it works is when you press a Key or Pad it creates a MIDI message and the message is sent to the device which it is connected. MIDI is just a language, the controller speaks the language and any one who understand it can react to those messages. So you know what else can speak MID, your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation)...

2018 MALAYALAM MOVIE BGM RECREATE (TUTORIAL) 2018 is a Malayalam Movie which is also known as Everyone Is a Hero. It is based on a real kerala story and true events in the 2018 flood which occured in Kerala. The Movie is directed by one the finest director Jude Anthany. It's Music is done by Nobin Paul. Here in this blog we are looking on how to recreate the amazing score in this movie. Obviously the original score was made by using the live strings instruments which gives us the emotional feeling while watching the movie. However we will be using the Virtual Instruments to recreate this bgm using Logic Pro as my Digital Audio Workstation and Samson Carbon 61 as my Midi Keyboard. Tempo - 124 Time Signature - 4/4 (Triplet) 1. Pads To keep the uplifting effect throughout the music it is really important to place an ambient pad behind. Pad presets are available on most of the plugins but for here i used the Time Textures by Sonuscore (Kontakt). Here is the Pattern I used: You can als...

GTA IV Beat Making

Image
GTA IV THEME MUSIC (BEAT MAKING TUTORIAL) In this blog we are looking on how to recreate the theme music of GTA IV. For this i've used Logic Pro as my DAW and i used Akai Mpk Mini as my Midi Keyboard. Now let's look on how we recreate the beat. Tempo - 142 Scale - C minor 1. BASS While recording the bass it's better to layer the tracks to get the perfect sound. Try to add a bass which has a sub effect or select a random bass and remove it high frequency using the equalizer plugin. Nest step is layer it a bass which has a square tone effect. You can remove its low end a bit as there is an instrument which already has a low end. So it will prevent a rumbling unwanted noise. For this i've used the plugin Nexus 3. It has wide amount of bass presets. I've selected the preset Agora for the sub bass and Aggressive Bite for the square tone. Here is the pattern of the bass. 2. RHYTHM The rhythm part is the most grooviest thing of all. For creating the rhythm we need to add ...

A-ha - Take on me (Tutorial)

A-ha - Take on me (Tutorial) In this blog we are looking on how to recreate the retro song Take On Me by Aha on Logic Pro X. As you can see the word retro i used the stock inbuilt plugins of Logic such as ES2 and Retro Synth. I will be also attaching a template of the project below (only applicable for Logic Pro users). Here is the detailed Tutorial; Tempo - 166 Scale - B minor 1. KICK, SNARE & TOM These three are the main elements of the song as these three gives the bouncy groove which goes through out the track. For this I used the sample packs from KSHMR Vol 3 and assigned it to the Drum Machine in Logic Pro. I assigned the elements to my Midi Keyboard's drum pad, and recorded it. Given below is the pattern I used. 2. BASS Recording the bass portion was one of the most satisfying thing i've ever done to be honest. The sound generating from the classic retro plugins just pierced through my soul. Here I used the Eighties Bass from Logic Pro itself. I also layered it wit...

Blinding Lights Beat Making Tutorial

Image
THE WEEKND - BLINDING LIGHTS (Beat Making Tutorial) Here are the instruments i added to recreate the track. 1. Rhythm For Kick and snare i selected the Acoustic type drums from the KSHMR VOL 3 sound Pack. Apply Kick on 1,3,5, two beats between 6 & 7 and apply kick on 7 as well in 2 bars. Apply snare on every second kick we hear. Give hi-hats on every click we hear. Don't go for any hi-hat rolls, just keep it simple. You can also add dynamics to the hit hats to find it less robotic and more humanized. Follow this pattern: 2. Pads While recreating the Pads try to go for a church organ type pad and mix it with a ambient pad. Layering these two will give a perfect sound. For this i selected analog ensemble(Synth category) and mixed it with ambient pad in Nexus 3. Nexus 3 is one of favourite plugins for adding edm riffs, lead, synth sounds and pads as well. Here is the pads pattern. 3. Bass For bass I used 3 types of tone. First one is the Analog Pulse, second is Square tone and th...
