A-ha - Take on me (Tutorial) In this blog we are looking on how to recreate the retro song Take On Me by Aha on Logic Pro X. As you can see the word retro i used the stock inbuilt plugins of Logic such as ES2 and Retro Synth. I will be also attaching a template of the project below (only applicable for Logic Pro users). Here is the detailed Tutorial; Tempo - 166 Scale - B minor 1. KICK, SNARE & TOM These three are the main elements of the song as these three gives the bouncy groove which goes through out the track. For this I used the sample packs from KSHMR Vol 3 and assigned it to the Drum Machine in Logic Pro. I assigned the elements to my Midi Keyboard's drum pad, and recorded it. Given below is the pattern I used. 2. BASS Recording the bass portion was one of the most satisfying thing i've ever done to be honest. The sound generating from the classic retro plugins just pierced through my soul. Here I used the Eighties Bass from Logic Pro itself. I also layered it wit...

Blinding Lights Beat Making Tutorial

THE WEEKND - BLINDING LIGHTS (Beat Making Tutorial) Here are the instruments i added to recreate the track. 1. Rhythm For Kick and snare i selected the Acoustic type drums from the KSHMR VOL 3 sound Pack. Apply Kick on 1,3,5, two beats between 6 & 7 and apply kick on 7 as well in 2 bars. Apply snare on every second kick we hear. Give hi-hats on every click we hear. Don't go for any hi-hat rolls, just keep it simple. You can also add dynamics to the hit hats to find it less robotic and more humanized. Follow this pattern: 2. Pads While recreating the Pads try to go for a church organ type pad and mix it with a ambient pad. Layering these two will give a perfect sound. For this i selected analog ensemble(Synth category) and mixed it with ambient pad in Nexus 3. Nexus 3 is one of favourite plugins for adding edm riffs, lead, synth sounds and pads as well. Here is the pads pattern. 3. Bass For bass I used 3 types of tone. First one is the Analog Pulse, second is Square tone and th...
